Your Childs Name and How It Relates To Their Success

This is one of the main questions that any parent will ask himself when faced to the tough decision of naming his child. But does your child’s name really affect their success in life? Is name really such a big factor? What are the benefits of an uncommon name? We’ll try to answer all of the above in the following article.

Does the way I name my child really affect his success in life?

In order to answer this question, we have to clarify one thing. There’s absolutely no certainty that naming your little boy “John” or “Wuss” will have any effect on how his life will develop in the long run. It will depend heavily on the kind of character and personal traits he will develop, but most of these are tightly knotted around the way he will grow up and his name might have an effect on that. So does the way you name your child really affect his success in life? Yes, there’s a big chance it will. However, if you REALLY want to name your son or daughter with some awkward name for any mysterious reasons, there’s also a slight chance that they will use this weird name as an asset rather than a disadvantage. Just don’t count on it and seeing how you’re playing with your child’s life, a good parent wouldn’t risk it. But it’s your call in the end.

Is name really such a big factor?

No it isn’t, if it’s a common name or a less common name that still sounds good. In this case, your child’s name won’t really affect the way he’s viewed by everyone else. Unless it’s a name that has a bad resonance to someone else. For example, if your son’s name is Michael and the girl he dates had a huge letdown from someone else named Michael, it might affect your son indirectly. But that’s something so small that it’s not worth considering.

On the other hand though, if you give your child an awkward, strange and uncommon name, it might decisively affect his character and the way he grows up. A weird name will have the other kids laughing, picking and bullying yours throughout school and up until university. Besides, weird names can’t be taken seriously. What if your son ends up in a promising position for the company manager’s first hand mate? Will he trust this job to someone with a weird name that can’t be taken seriously, or to the plain “John”?

What are the benefits of an uncommon name?

An uncommon name, as long as it’s not a weird one, may have some distinct benefits. First of all, your child will be unique amongst the other Johns, Jacks and Marys. This will shine a light on top of him that could be beneficial. It can also be a good way of making someone remember him or her in any scenario. For example, applying to a job, your daughter, named Danica, sends in a CV and a week later is called for the interview. The interviewer greets her with “ah you’re Danica”, remembering the CV as opposed to the next girl in the interview named Jenny, who is greeted with “hello miss…*looks at the CV*..Jenny”.
